When you've tried just about everything for upper back pain relief, maybe it's time to try some unconventional remedies from around the web that other people swear by.
Cayenne Pepper - When I first read this remedy for back pain relief, my first thought was - how am I going to get this down? I like hot foods but swallowing cayenne pepper in water sounds a little extreme. Reluctantly though, I did it and saw results within one week. Here's the home remedy: simply measure out 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and mix it in a glass of water. Do this twice daily. For me, it worked but I've read mixed reviews. It's worth a try. Some people take this in capsule form which works as well!
Oil Pulling - Out of all the upper back pain home remedies, this one might be the craziest! If you haven't heard about oil pulling, here's how it works. First thing in the morning on a completely empty stomach, you take approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons of either Sesame or Sunflower oil and swish it in your mouth for 10 to 15 minutes. During this time, you swish and pull the oil through your teeth until it becomes like water. Make sure you don't swallow this mixture! Afterwards, spit it out (they say in the toilet) as it has now become "toxic". Rinse your mouth out with water several times and brush your teeth thoroughly. Apparently, this is said to get rid of pain throughout the entire body. The catch is, it takes time. I've read it can take up to 4 weeks for it to work. People swear by oil pulling and say that it has healed them of many things in the body including pain!
Hand Pressure - I take it back, this might be the craziest remedy for chronic back pain relief but i'm putting it in here because many people say it works! The remedy is this: take your index finger and curl it over. Next, take your thumb and cover it at the base of your index finger (below your finger nail). In the end, you'll be making an "okay" gesture with your fingers. Keep the other 3 fingers straight. Hold this position for 45 minutes. Practicing this for 2 months is said to rid the body of pain, especially back pain and arthritis. It also helps with gas. Crazy!
Exercises - One of the best upper back pain exercises is really kind of the simplest. You simply lay on the floor and bend your knees. Next, put your arms in front of you and slowly raise yourself towards your knees, lifting your head and shoulders up off the floor as you raise your arms. Doing this slowly a handful of times helps with back pain and is one of the easiest back pain relief exercises.
Coconut Oil - Probably one of the best natural back pain relief products is coconut oil. You simply apply coconut oil to where you feel back pain before you go to sleep. Upon waking, most feel no back pain. Just a word of caution, the coconut oil will stain clothes and all fabrics so make sure you sleep on something that you don't want stained! You may also want to try placing a pillow under your knees while laying flat on your back as you sleep for additional upper back pain treatment.
